With the introduction of the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive, the collaboration has been taken to new heights with the AMG development team working directly alongside Cigarette to adapt the SLS Electric Drive power train for the marine industry and thus producing the worlds most powerful electric performance boat.

With the new SLS AMG Coup Electric Drive, Mercedes-AMG entered a new era: the locally emission-free super sports car featuring advanced technology from the world of Formula 1 is the most exclusive and dynamic way in which to drive an electric car. With the transfer of main components such as electric motors, power electronics, high voltage batteries, AMG Powertrain Controller (APC), on board chargers etc. the most powerful electric speed boat is born: Cigarette AMG Electric Drive. The SLS AMG Coup Electric Drive is aimed at technology-minded super sports car fans that are open to new ideas and enthusiastic about ambitious high-tech solutions for the future of motoring. This technology is now transferred into the most powerful electric performance boat: The Cigarette AMG Electric Drive.

Each of the two powertrains has 6 compact permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors with a maximum power of 185 hp (138 kW) and maximum torque of 184 ftlb (250 Nm) each; so the boat provides a combined maximum output of 2220 hp (1656 kW) and maximum torque of 2213 ftlb (3000 Nm).The electric motors are taken from the SLS AMG Electric Drive.

Visually, the multi-award-winning design of the SLS AMG is combined with a number of specific features which are exclusive to the Electric Drive variant. One feature reserved exclusively for the SLS AMG Coup Electric Drive is the "AMG electricbeam magno" matt paint finish. The electrified Cigarette shares this outstanding finish.

The purely electric driven system is ideally packaged for the integration of the high-performance, zero-emission technology: by way of example, the 12 electric motors and the two transmissions can be positioned as close to the back as possible and very low down in the boat. The same applies to the modular high-voltage battery.
